Women Empowerment
Nigeria is home to a diverse population of women who face various forms of disadvantage and marginalization. These include widows, single mothers, women with disabilities, women from rural and remote areas, and women affected by conflict. The challenges faced by these women are often compounded by poverty, lack of education, and limited access to resources and opportunities.
Widows in Nigeria often face significant economic and social
hardships. They may be denied their inheritance rights or face pressure to
remarry within their late husband's family. Single mothers, who often lack the
support of a partner, may also struggle to provide for their families and
access basic services such as healthcare and education.
Women with disabilities in Nigeria face significant barriers
to education, employment, and healthcare. They may be stigmatized and face
discrimination, making it challenging to fully participate in society. Women
from rural and remote areas often lack access to basic services and infrastructure,
such as clean water, sanitation facilities, and transportation.
Women affected by conflict in Nigeria face unique
challenges. They may be displaced from their homes and communities, leading to
a loss of social support networks and economic opportunities. They may also be
at increased risk of gender-based violence and exploitation.
That is why we are working hard to provide support and
advocacy for marginalized women, including widows, single mothers, women with
disabilities, and those affected by conflict.
Despite these efforts, more needs to be done to address the
systemic challenges that prevent women from fully participating in Nigerian
society. This includes tackling issues such as gender inequality, poverty, and
violence against women. By promoting the rights and empowerment of
disadvantaged and marginalized women in Nigeria, we can help build a more
inclusive and equitable society for all.
Dekoa Foundation plays a vital role in supporting and
empowering marginalized individuals and communities, particularly in Nigeria.
In a country where women face various forms of discrimination and disadvantage, Dekoa Foundation helps provide essential services and support to women in need,
including widows, single mothers, women with disabilities, women from rural and
remote areas, and women affected by conflict.
